The Challenge

The Intertanko website was in need of an overhaul. For users, it was difficult to navigate, content was not always up to date and some features simply didn’t work properly.

Meanwhile behind the scenes, a third party was hosting the site and struggling with the way it had been built using Episerver; they were experiencing technical difficulties with the CMS updates and as a result some areas of backend functionality were lost.

It’s design was dated, and although it boasted good user numbers (being a trade member site, there was no need to advertise the organisation externally), it was widely accepted that the site could provide more useful and up to date resources, while being simpler to navigate.

Going forward, the vision was that the content would be managed internally via the CMS, while user access could be managed through the CRM system. User profile information could then be synchronised on both systems.

The Result

Specified administrators can now easily manage the CRM system, update content, and create links with ease, and user profile and access level information is synchronised seamlessly with the CRM.

Personalised e-newsletters are now rapidly and easily generated and sent to members with links to any new content that has been added that is of known interest to them - saving administrators a lot of time and effort, and only targeting those who will want to know.

Meanwhile, committee members and panels, now have their own custom password protected areas with unique access to expanded information that is of particular relevance to them. Other users are not able to see this protected information, but can view excerpts of articles where it is deemed appropriate.

The new website is far more accessible, streamlined and up to date than its predecessor and has made life just that little bit easier for everyone that uses it.
